“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!'” (Isaiah 52:7 NIV)
Our beleaguered world needs men and women of faith who are dressed in the full armor of God, going forth with the proclamation of Christ’s victory over Sin, Satan, and Self. These are the Ambassadors of Reconciliation; the Merchants of Hope; the Messengers of Peace who spread the Good News far and wide — “Our God reigns!”
Because of what Christ, the King of Glory, has accomplished — you and I can now experience not only peace with God; we can also live in the peace of God! A peace that passes all understanding; a peace that guards our hearts, and governs our choices; a peace which this world cannot take from us.
George H. Morrison, one of my favorite authors, wrote, “Peace is the possession of adequate resource.” Imagine living your life everyday in the present tense realization that you have right now all that you need to face any demand that arises. Wouldn’t that make a huge difference in how you live each day? And wouldn’t you want as many of your friends and family members to know and experience this for themselves?
You can tell them about it, or you can show them what it’s like by experiencing it yourself. That’s the better choice. And when they ask you for a reason of the hope that is in you, then you can share the good news of the King of Glory and His triumph over Sin, Satan, and Self in your life.
A friend once taught me, “You cannot preach the Good News, and be the bad news!” In other words, you cannot give away to others what you yourself do not possess. There are some who carry the message out of a sense of religious duty, driven by anger against evil; or plagued with a personal quirk of trying and please God by religious works. These are the kind of people who brighten up a room by leaving!
But the man or woman who is fully alive in God, filled with His Spirit and walking in peace — these carry a redeeming influence for Christ everywhere they go.
These are those happy souls of whom others say, “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!'” (Isaiah 52:7 NIV).
Is there anything in your life that is preventing you from being such a person? Ask the Lord to flood your heart with His light, life, and love — and then let the living waters flow out of your innermost being, bringing the same to others in the sphere of your influence.
You can do this. It is why you were created!
