The Hope of Glory

“Christ in you, the hope of glory”(Colossians 1:27 KJV)

We talked yesterday about God’s glory being put on display in our lives. Today I want to continue that discussion by showing you how you can cooperate with the Spirit of God as He works in you to accomplish this phenomenal work of grace.

Jude wrote, “But you, dear friends, carefully build yourselves up in this most holy faith by praying in the Holy Spirit, staying right at the center of God’s love, keeping your arms open and outstretched, ready for the mercy of our Master, Jesus Christ. This is the unending life, the real life! (Jude 1:20, 21 MSG).

the hope of glory 03Begin your day with a prayer, asking God to fill you with His Holy Spirit. Ask Him to release the full measure of His life, His light, and His love into every fiber of your being. Announce to everything within you that Jesus Christ is Lord, and that your whole life — spirit, soul and body — are now under His benevolent reign. Yield all to Him, especially those things which He highlights in you that perhaps have not yet been yielded because of previous unbelief, or deep-seated fears.

The fact is that Jesus came that we might have life, and have it abundantly. This is in direct opposition to the work of the Serpent. Christ not only confronts the power of darkness which has heretofore worked unimpeded in our lives — He conquerors it. And, even more, He empowers us to live as over-comers!

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:37-39 KJV)

One translation puts it, “overwhelming victory is ours.” So we don’t simply overcome the works of darkness… No, we overwhelm them!

Can you imagine what your life would be like if each day you were literally empowered by the indwelling Spirit of God to face, and overcome anything and everything that has been at work in your life that is contrary to the will of God? Would that not be astounding? Would you not walk in freedom, full of faith and love? Would you not become more and more an instrument in God’s hands to bless and benefit others around you?

Of course you would!

And that, my friends, is the GLORY to which Christ has called us. Even now it is yours to have, to hold, and to put on display for others to see and desire for themselves.

Astounding indeed!
